Planned conceptCase 05 / Workflow discovery & pilot design

A proposed dashboard for job queues

A concept for seeing who owns a job and where it is waiting. The interactive example uses fictional jobs and has not been deployed at work.

Context

Not implemented in workplace operations

My role

Concept development; portfolio demonstration

Current status

A proposed direction for a discovery or pilot engagement, not a delivered operational system.

01Agree on the inputsData source + update owner
02Make exceptions visibleOwnership, aging, handoffs
03Validate a small pilotOne workflow, agreed checks
A proposed discovery path. Sources, ownership, integration methods and detailed requirements still need validation.

01 / The idea

What the dashboard could show

I want to make it easier to see who owns a job, how long it has been waiting, and what is holding it up. The idea starts with Design and QC queues; artwork versions, rework and approvals could follow if the team needs them.

It has not been implemented. The demonstration below was made for this portfolio, using fictional jobs and example rules.

02 / Discovery first

Where the data would come from

The data source, who updates it, and the integration method still need to be confirmed. For a first version, I would start with one queue and agree with its users on what counts as overdue or stuck.

The departments and statuses in the demonstration are examples, not a map of a company’s actual production process.

03 / Possible first scope

A possible first pilot

A first pilot could display a queue and send notifications without changing the source records. Data access and the checks for a successful pilot would need to be agreed first.

Delivery readiness, billing readiness and deeper ERP/Esko integration are later possibilities. ERP write-back, stock/accounting transactions and machine-control automation are not delivered capabilities here.

04 / Status

Current status

This is a planned concept. The next step would be to discuss an actual queue, its data and the people who maintain it before deciding whether to build a pilot.

Interactive portfolio example

Explore the example queue.

Synthetic data only

This interface was built for this portfolio using fictional jobs. It is not a deployed workplace system, and none of the figures represent operational performance.
