File synchronization between branches

I set up Syncthing so branches could synchronize design and production files, with TLS-encrypted communication. I continue to maintain the setup.

Context

PT Cipta Kemas Indah Cemerlang

My role

Built and maintain the Syncthing setup

Outcome

Inter-branch file sync where there was none before.

01 / Context

Files needed across branches

The business produces photopolymer printing plates and die-cut tooling for the packaging industry, with sites in Serpong, Surabaya and Bitung. There was no inter-branch synchronization infrastructure for design and production files.

02 / Contribution

Setting up Syncthing from scratch

I built the Syncthing setup from scratch, using TLS-encrypted communication between branches. I maintain it alongside the file servers, branch networks and production workstations that use these files.

03 / Operational scope

Keeping backups separate

Synchronization makes files available across sites. Separately, I back up design data, email content and ERP databases, including off-site object storage copies, and perform restores and scheduled recovery tests.

CCTV recording synchronization is another part of my operational work; it is separate from the design/production-file workflow described in this case.
